This race was suppose to start in Kitty Hawk, NC and end in Oshkosh with a lay over in Dayton, OH. Because of bad weather the race ended up just being from Dayton to Oshkosh, a little over 400 miles. The racers made a flying start, a pylon turn in Aurora, IL and a low pass over the finish line, which was abeam Warbird Island in Lake Winnebago. Most of the racers (non-turbo) flew the race less than 2000 ft agl. Some flew the race at only a few hundred feet trying to get maximum horsepower. A total of 23 airplanes flew the race. |
