Can I Use Pop Rivets?

Many more Pop rivets are needed to replace solid aircraft rivets due to their inferior strength and reliability.  The advantages of solid aircraft rivets are their strength, they are not hollow leaving your airplane full of holes, they do not need to be filled, and solid rivets leave a very smooth finished skin.  Solid aircraft grade rivets can be set with a bucking bar as quickly as a pop rivet can be set with a pull tool and with much less effort.

Aircraft grade pop rivets that are acceptable structural replacements for a solid rivet cost about $0.40 each.  A typical solid aircraft rivet costs less than a penny.
